Se7en opening sequence analasis

Se7en
The opening scene starts with a book being opened; the shot of the book is a close up shot with the hands opening it out of focus. This immediately gives the impression something is wrong due to the fact that we can't tell whose hands they are. At the same time that this happens erratic music starts playing also symbolising something is wrong. The names that appear on the screen are jumpy and appear to move very suddenly. The next shot is of two hands, the hands seem to be deformed and hand drawn giving the impression of some kind of experiment. The scenes move fast, this give the impression of panic. The next shot is of somebody's fingers and a razorblade taking the skin off, this gives us the impression that he is not sane and that he is going to do something that would need him not to leave fingerprints. The shots then begin to move quickly from one to the next increasing the feeling of panic. There are a lot of extreme close ups giving the impression of concentration and a lot of camera angles making the viewer feel like it is hard to follow and there is no real pattern also liking back to insanity. There is then a shot of him writing, this shows that he is documenting and again gives off the impression that this is a kind of experiment. The hand and pen seem to be blurred and you can see double this shows that he isn't seeing things in the way that a normal person does. There are then a couple of red shots this lets the viewer know that he is dangerous and that there may be death involved. There is then a shot of a page turning and a shadow of his hand behind the page, this shows that he hides in the shadows; the lighting is also quite dark making the viewer think that he is dangerous. The music then begins to dim and loud scraping noises begin this shows that he is working on something. He then colours in a picture of a face black this shows that he doesn't like them, there are then a few red shots foreshadowing him killing them. There is then a shot where you can see his thumb putting something down, de does this neatly and carefully this signifies that he is relaxed and that this means a lot to him. His thumb is also dirty showing that he doesn't think much of himself. There is then a shot of a person with a metal rod stuck in the back of his head, this shows that he is planning on hurting someone and is learning how. There is a shot of him moving photos around carefully this shows that he is in control, at the same time the screen begins to distort with lines going across the screen this shows his mind is clouded. There is then a shot of him removing the word god from a dollar bill, this shows that he doesn't want god to be part of money. It also shows that he has no need for money and this reiterates the insanity. There are suddenly a lot of fast cuts then a cityscape showing that he is living among a peaceful city.
